Hello everyone, I just found this forum. I am very interested in Russian toys. But I can't decide which one is better, a smooth-coat or a long-coat puppy? What do you think about it?

I think I like smooth-haired more. My Lord was a smooth-haired russian toy, and I never had any problem with his hair in my soup

I couldn't pass your forum by. I have a long-haired russian toy, and I never had any problem with his hair in my soup! My dog doesn't shed too much.

By the way, how do I put my avatar here?

AngelsToy, I've seen your puppies for sale this morning. Those long-haired ones are absolutely adorable! But I still can't decide which type of Russian toy I like more. They all look so cute!

Just get a puppy you will like. Don't worry about the coat.

aboltuska, how much time a day do you spend to take care of your long coat Russian toy? And what do you do for it? Is combing enough, or you use something else?

zero minutes! I comb his hair only if I see he needs it. May be 2 times a month . Lovingmom, they are not that hairy like pudles or some others. Comparing to many longhaire breeds longhaired Russian Toys are 'smothhaired' . Don't worry about it.

I personally don't know much about the longhair line. I read that in the beginning Russian Toys were just smooth. And there are more smooth dogs in this breed than long ones. Probably it makes the smooth line stronger and gives more varieties. I like them more.

aboltuska, I know what puppy I want. I went through a lot of pictures of this breed and I am pretty confident I want a smooth haired one. They look so tiny and fragile! Long haired ones all look different. Some even look like Chihuahuas or something else, not sure. Smooth haired ones look like Russian toys and not like any other breed. I feel I am in love .

You are right, many longhair russian toys look different. But if you try your best, you can always find a good one.
